Surprises for Qcd at Nonzero Chemical Potential
In this lecture we compare different QCD-like partition functions with bosonic quarks and fermionic quarks at nonzero chemical potential. Although it is not a surprise that the ground state properties of a fermionic quantum system and a bosonic quantum system are completely different, the behavior of partition functions with bosonic quarks does not follow our naive expectation. Among other surp...
متن کاملTwo Colours Qcd at Nonzero Chemical Potential
We identify the Goldstone modes appropriate to the low and high density phases of SU(2) lattice gauge theory with staggered fermions. We present hybrid Monte Carlo simulation results for susceptibilities on a 6 lattice at β = 1.5, m = 0.05. We specify how to implement a diquark source term in a lattice simulation and present first measurements of the lattice diquark condensate as a function of ...
متن کاملRandom Matrix Theory and QCD at nonzero chemical Potential
In this lecture we give a brief review of chiral Random Matrix Theory (chRMT) and its applications to QCD at nonzero chemical potential. We present both analytical arguments involving chiral perturbation theory and numerical evidence from lattice QCD simulations showing that correlations of the smallest Dirac eigenvalues are described by chRMT. We discuss the range of validity of chRMT and emph...
متن کاملQcd Functional Integrals for Systems with Nonzero Chemical Potential
This paper reviews some recent progress on QCD functional integrals at nonzero chemical potentials. One issue discussed is the use of QCD inequalities for this regime. In particular, the positivity of the integrand of particular Euclidean space functional integrals for two-flavor QCD with degenerate quark masses is used to demonstrate that the free energy per unit volume for QCD with a baryon c...
متن کاملStochastic quantization at nonzero chemical potential
Lattice QCD at finite chemical potential is difficult due to the sign problem. We use stochastic quantization and complex Langevin dynamics to study this issue. First results for QCD in the hopping expansion are encouraging. U(1) and SU(3) one link models are used to gain further insight into why the method appears to be successful.
